Shaft furnace for steel mill waste materials

Mill Waste Recovery & Reuse

Agglomeration and Melting of Steel Mill Waste Materials

Iron bearing fine dusts, sludges from the gas cleaning systems of blast furnaces and steel mills, and oil containing rolling mill sludge are agglomerated with metallurgical carbon units. Iron is produced as the agglomerates are molten in a coke fired shaft furnace.

Skulls, splash iron, and other metallic wastes from the steel plant, as well as pig iron and scrap, can be charged at the same time.

Charging skulls from the blast furnace iron desulphurization decreases the sulphur input into the converter.
